Beacon Pole Hill Chapter was established on October 26, 1932, by Organizing Regent Miss Susan W. Handy. Since the founding of the chapter, members have descended from 85 Patriots of the American Revolution. Chapter meetings are held in the northern Rhode Island cities and towns of Cumberland, Lincoln, Central Falls, Woonsocket, and North Smithfield. The chapter currently has 23 members.

 

Meetings are held approximately ten times a year. Programs focus on a variety of historical, educational, patriotic, and health issues. Other chapter activities include:

o       Conducting genealogy workshops for the community.

o       Sponsoring the DAR Good Citizen Award and Scholarship program for local high school seniors.

o    Planning and participating in annual “Patriotic Day in the Park” activities held each September in Pawtucket to honor local veterans and their families.

o     Marching in the annual Lincoln Memorial Day Parade and in the Arnold Mills 4th of July Parade in Cumberland.

o    Assisting Pawtucket Chapter, RIDAR, with candlelight tours of historic Daggett House during the month of December.

 

 

 

The Chapter celebrated 75 years of membership on October 25, 2008
